Cape Verde is a republic situated
on an archipelago in the northern
Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast
of Africa. The islands, previously
uninhabited, were discovered and colonised by the Portuguese in the XV century.
Later they become the centre of the commerce of
black slaves.
The name 'Cape Verde' comes from Cap-Vert,
in todays's Senegal,
the western most point
of Africa.
